Annual Events in Underberg
Underberg & Himeville Annual Events
From its early beginnings back in 1990, Splashy Fen has evolved into one of South Africa’s premier music festivals which nowadays sees thousands of people making the annual pilgrimage to Underberg in KwaZulu-Natal for what is regarded by many as the ‘ultimate outdoor experience’.
Splashy Fen, named after the farm upon which the festival takes place, is a perfect setting for a music festival.
Natural amphitheaters, great acoustics, breathe taking mountain vistas, winding rivers and large level fields for camping.
Event organisers shared the next batch of local and international artists who will fill Underberg with their awesome sounds over the Easter weekend.
Underberg Farmers Association Show
The Underberg Farmers Association was established back in 1893. It is a voluntary, democratic, non-racial organisation, founded by farmers, to act as a formalized representative body on the behalf of a member or members, with the aim of protecting and developing their interests and those of farming in general.
The UFA (Underberg Farmers Association) annual show is growing from strength to strength and is a 'must visit' event if you're in the area.
There is beef, sheep and dairy judging with top quality animals for you to see. Happy hour, a live show, food for sale and of course a well stocked bar.
Entertainment for the kiddies, the farmers challenge and the Round Table Auction.

Kenmo Lake Picnic
Kenmo Lake, on Hazldene Farm, is an ideal setting for a picnic, reading a good book or just relaxing and taking in the beauty.
A great time to see the lake in autumn, when the trees are shades of browns, reds and orange and the leaves form a golden carpet over the green grass.
The autumn picnic is a fundraiser for the Himeville Museum.
Two of KwaZulu Natal's most attractive spots, Lake Kenmo and Slayley Woods, can be described as accidental tourist attractions.
Not funded by provincial money or public enterprise, they were private sanctuaries for many years until outside visitors were allowed to share the family treasures.

Himeville Museum Christmas Market
Located in the Main Road, it displays an impressive collection of exhibits, making it one of the top rural museums in South Africa. It was constructed in 1899 as a prison and has, since then, been part of the history of this town. In 1972 that it was abandoned as a prison. Four years later, it was turned into a museum and, in 1978, it was recognised as a National Monument.
Exhibits include fossils and artefacts from the Stone Age, which reveal important information about prehistoric Africa and the world that once was. Thousands of years ago, this area was home to indigenous tribes of San folk, who were hunter-gatherers that lived off the land. These ones left rock art, as well as living implements that reveal much about their ancient way of life.
Join us on December 17, 2017 for our annual Christmas Market !
